Sharing Haida Gwaii’s Sustainable Forestry
In March, Taan Forest and HaiCo were proud to take part in the 4th annual Design for Freedom Summit hosted by Grace Farms in Connecticut—an event that brought together world leaders in architecture, sustainability, and human rights to advance ethical sourcing in the built environment.
HaiCo CEO Leticia Hill and Taan Forest’s Chief Forester Jeff Mosher joined a panel on Generational Forest Stewardship, sharing how Taan’s forestry practices on Haida Gwaii support both environmental responsibility and cultural values. The panel highlighted Grace Farms’ new red cedar fascia, which was harvested by Taan.
In November 2024, Taan hosted Grace Farms on Haida Gwaii to see first-hand how Taan harvests in line with the Haida Gwaii Land Use Order and FSC certification.
This was a really exciting opportunity to raise awareness among top designers and builders about the quality and values behind Haida Gwaii wood—and to show that Haida-led forestry delivers at the highest standards of sustainability and design.
