Forest Stewardship Plan 2023-2028: Public Review and Comments

January 9, 2023

Dear community members,

This is a public notification from Taan Forest (Taan) to inform the community that Taan will be submitting its replacement Forest Stewardship Plan (FSP) for Haida tenures, Tree Farmer Licence (TFL) 60 and First Nation Woodland Licence (FNWL) N1G.

An FSP is a landscape-level plan of potential forest development activities that are intended to take place on the tenures noted above. An FSP is an operational plan for timber harvesting and related activities that Taan must prepare and receive approval from both the Council of the Haida Nation and the Provincial government. As part of this approval process, Taan must solicit and consider the expectations of our community and stakeholders for our use of Haida/Haida Gwaii land and resources.

This public review is in accordance with Section 20 of the Forest Planning and Practices Regulation. Your input to this FSP is requested so that any concerns or comments can be addressed within the FSP prior to approval.
