Taan Forest Limited Partnership (Taan), a subsidiary of Haida Enterprises Corporation (HaiCo) is seeking a highly motivated individual to be part of its forestry team on Haida Gwaii.
Reporting directly to the Operation Forester, safety will be your priority. Working in a team environment you will oversee harvest areas from planning to free growing. You will plan and follow through with annual silviculture obligations and complete operational site plans. You will work closely with operations staff (Harvesting and Roads) and supervise Forestry Assistants. You will work with contractors to ensure Taan CMS, budgetary concerns, and operational plans are being met. You will be based out of Taan’s Skidegate office requiring travel to Taan’s operations throughout Graham, Moresby and Louise Islands on Haida Gwaii.
University Degree in Forestry or related science program
A member or qualifications to be a member in good standing with the Association of BC Forest Professionals as a Registered Professional Forester/Forester In Training
Understanding of Forestry Regulations
Good planning and organizational skills
Experience with silviculture tracking databases, Survey Wizard/ Snap, GPS/ GIS Arc info and knowledge of EBM considered an asset
Preference in hiring will be given to qualified applicants of Haida ancestry.
